Excellent value

Since I already had an Android tablet, this $150 investment provided me an equivalent system to a $500-$750 color GPS/Sonar combo. I have been a marine electronics "power user" ever since Humminbird came out with Side Imaging, but they (and all the other major manufacturers) have priced most folks out of the market. This system was exactly what I was looking for for the bow of my new bay boat - and highly affordable. And don't ever think this is not serious equipment - the quality of the sonar returns I am getting are easily as good as the 2D display on the $2000 unit at the console. Thanks Vexilar!!!!!

Great device

This is a great sonar. I could track my lure in 60 feet of water, and watch the fish rise to chase it. This is not a gimmick.

Not quite a universal mount

Cons:
The pinger's plastic mount block will only allow the pinger to swivel about 95 degrees around a horizontal axis.. So the pinger can be adjusted to point straight down when the mount is screwed to a hull surface that leans away from the center of the boat at the top. Some sailboat transoms lean forward instead of aft. A forward leaning transom will require an adapting wedge block to compensate for the angle that the transom leans forward of vertical. Or maybe the pinger can be mounted tightly against the inside of the bottom of the boat to ping down thru the fiberglass.

Have not used it yet.
